When two adjacent teeth(upper molar and upper bicuspid) both need crowns, must they have separate crowns?

Is a dentist supposed to connect the two crowns to make it a single crown%26gt;?

It would be better if they were separate. This would be better for the health of the gums and allow for better access to clean between the teeth. They could be splinted in rare circumstances to stabilize teeth that had bad gum disease but this would not be done very often at all.
Reply:When two adjacent teeth have to be crowned, the teeth gets separate caps but joined together. It is not considered one crown but are considered separate. These are joined to make them more retentive. For more information on crowns you can read the following very informative article... http://www.identalhub.com/ArticleSubCate...
