Why can't you use crest white strips on crowns?

I want to use crest white strips for my teeth, except I have four crowns on the front of my top teeth and my dentist said I can't use it for crowns, any suggestions?

Why can't you use crest white strips on crowns?
He probably meant you can't whiten the crowns because they are made of porcelain. The color is permanent. If you whiten the teeth on either side of the crowns lighter than the crowns they will stick out and look really bad. If the teeth are darker on either side of the crowns bleach away! Try to keep the color the same all the way across for a more natural look.
Reply:Umm if they are metal crowns (which i doubt), they wont whiten them. If they are those white coloured crowns or dentures, they whiten at a different rate to normal teeth, and im pretty sure you dont want a white rainbow in ur mouth.
