Front teeth crowns causing lisp, is this normal?

I have temp crowns on 6 of my top front teeth. I get the real ones in a few weeks but I am really worried cause I seemed to have formed a lisp. Will it go away with the new ones?

If your crowns are adjusted properly they shouldn't cause you to have a lisp, but make sure to discuss this with your dentist.
Reply:Yes, your lisp should go away when you have the final crowns put in. Having crowns done should not cause any speech impediments, or do not normally.

When temporary crowns are made, they do not fit as nicely as the final ones will, and are not contoured as well either. Sometimes they are made stuck together (the final ones will not unless you are having a bridge made), sometimes there are spaces between the teeth, etc, but these imperfections should not be present on the final crowns.

If you are really concerned, the dentist can cement the final ones on temporarily (with temporary cement) so you can try them out first. Then, if you are satisfied, you can go back, they can remove them, and cement them with the regular cement.

Hope that helps.
