I got a two porcelain crowns last week from the dentis (on teeth # 4 and 5), and they don't match my real teeth.. they're too yellow! I have a follow up appointment next week, is it too late for him to change the color??
Too late to change color of porcelain crowns?
Go back to your dentist and have him look at the shading. The color will look different if seen under fluorescent light than it will look under incandescent lightening. The best is to look under natural lighting conditions. Matching shades is really an art and sometimes a mistake can be made. If that was the case, he should re make them for no charge. But you will have to go through the procedure again. New impressions, temporary crowns, etc. To bad it wasn't spotted before cementing them on. They could have just been sent back to the lab and re-made. Good luck.
Reply:yes maybe so because they are cememted the cement is so strong that most times they have to be drilled out , which means they would be damaged and you would have to pay for new ones, usually your dentist should show the crowns before cemeted in to see if your happy with them then if your not they can send them back and get the colour changed, so yeah all you can do now is tell your dentist and see what they can do
Reply:There should not be a problem with you dentist changing out your Crowns tell him you are unhappy with the color of your teeth (CROWN) and you would like them to be removed and the color changed...If he is a caring Dr he will...may half to go 2 or three days with out your crowns but hey why pay for something if you dont like it right?
