I'm in the middle of cosmetic dental work and I'm getting very nervous. My dentist suggested getting multiple crowns instead of veneers (also needed a bridge) and I agreed but now I'm having second thoughts (although, too late, since they filed those teeth down to little nubs). I"m afraid that the crowns will be really uncomfortable since they fit over the whole tooth. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with multiple crowns and how they feel. Also, how sturdy are they since you lose so much natural tooth structure? Thanks!!!
Anybody have experience with multiple crowns?
I have 3 right in a row. they do feel like natural teeth after awhile.. you only have to be careful about biting into really hard things.. like apples, carrots, corn.. (mine were the front teeth)
and crowns usually need replacing sometime after 10 yers.. because they being to loosen up! mine are going on 11 years.. and they are telling me to replace them, but i'm not until they start hurting!
they are way to expensive!
Reply:I have multiple crowns and once they are in and fitted you will not even know that they are in your mouth. The crowns are very sturdy and will stay in your mouth for years.
Reply:I have 2 permanent crowns and they are doing very well. I got 8 and 9 done about 15 years ago and have had no problem with them. (8 and 9 are the two top center teeth) They are just like my regular teeth except you can see the metal in the back of them, but, only if you use a mirror.
I would recommend them to anyone who needs dental work, they look great and don't stain.
Good luck and keep smiling!
