Why do Spanish football club crests have crowns or bats on them?

well coming to Real Madrid for example, the crown is because the club is considered a Royal club...

as for Valencia (the bats on the crest) it's because the city of Valencia witnesses many bats..

Barca's logo has neither.
Reply:Crowns may be a reference to the Spanish monarchy. I know that "Real" means Royal, so maybe there is some correlation there - Royal charter perhaps?

Dunno about bats, but they could be sceptres, which would tie in with royalty.

I admit that this is speculation, but I hope it helps!
