Do root canals on premolars require crowns?

If so, how common is it for them to be required? Did you have a root canal on a premolar that did not require a crown? I am wondering because a dentist said I may need one done for that tooth. I was afraid to ask if getting a root canal on that tooth would also mean having to pay for a crown, though.

Craig B, My dentist was able to help me understand the crowns process very clearly to me. Your dentist should be able to answer your questions. If you denist doesn't perform crowns procedures, try finding one here: http://www.addictionselfhelp.com
Reply:Not necessarily right away but eventually it is the best thing to do--A tooth that has been root canaled tend to be brittle over time and more prone to breaking
Reply:every root canal treated tooth needs crowns or unless it is non functional.
