The Arizona Cardinals are proof that a playoff doesn't always crown the BEST team. They were mediocre at best all season long. They happened to get hot at the right moment and boom; they have a shot at winning it all. Who cares if they stunk all regular season, right. They hit a hot streak late. Regular season must not matter.
All you BCS haters still think a playoff crowns the best team?
At least someone sees it the way I do. I would like to see a plus one in college but, never a playoff like the NFL's.
Reply:No the Arizona Cardinals are proof that the team with the best record is not necessarily the best team. Just like the NFL playoffs usually show -- because it is rare that the #1 NFC seed plays the #1 AFC seed in the Super Bowl. The team with the best regular season record is not always the best team. This might occur due to late season injuries, team(s) with easy/difficult schedules, or teams maturing as the season goes on to name a few reasons.
Your (implied) argument that the regular season is the most important would mean that Utah should have been the BCS champion. Oh but wait they did not qualify for a BCS game did they? So I guess the regular season is only important if what???
It only applies for teams in the top conferences with the most power, money, and influence. So a team in a BCS conference who happens to play most of their conference games against teams with loosing records can loose one game as long as it is against a "top" opponent in your conference or in another BCS conference but a non BCS conference team can't even get in if they go undefeated. How does that system make sense?
If you are going to make an argument that something is incorrect it is best not to contradict yourself while making the argument.
I have never said that the NFL playoff system is perfect; however, the BCS system is far far worse.
Reply:This is the most absurd statement ive ever heard. its like that with all playoffs (nba, mlb, etc) Whichever team is playing the best at the right moment will win! You can say that a team is hot in the regular season and not in the playoffs is just the same thing as a team hot in the playoffs but not in the reg season. Arizona beat Phily who beat the giants twice, so what the **** is your point.
Reply:Well thats not the point. no one said the playoffs crowns the best team but it atleast gives the teams the opportunity to compete for the championship.
the problem with the BCS system is that some teams will never have the opportunity to ever play in the championship game despite a perfect record.
Reply:Who ever said a playoff crowns the "best" team? And I'm not sure Florida proved they were the "best" team just by beating nOU. All that proves is that they were better then Oklahoma, on that night. It would have proved more if they had gone through a playoff that included Texas, USC and Utah. All this year proved is that losing early is better then losing late.

Enough Said!
Hook'em!!
Reply:The same argument you are using can also be used against you. You say they got hot at the right time. Well you BCS fans also say it's okay to lose early in the season, but you have to win late in the season. Isn't that the same thing as getting hot at the right time? Make up your minds. The arguments against a college playoffs are lame.
Reply:well i mean the one team that has a good case is the pats. they had a better record than them AND beat them in the reg season. so idc what ur a fan of everyone has to admit that is just bogus that the cards are in and the pats arent.
Reply:To get to the play-offs, the Cards had to win their division, To win the title the Cards will have to beat 4 teams in a row. in a narrowing field of winners.
Your BCS winners only had to beat the most consistant bowl game chokers in college football.
Reply:Well if you look at who they beat and if they beat the Steelers then I think they have a legit case even without being given the title out right.
Reply:Obviously, if you ask me. With teams like Utah and Texas losing their shot at the title because of computers, it's no question!
Reply:the team that gets to the championship is the team tht can win the games that matter.
