What happens when they put crowns in at the dentist?

what do they do exactly/ ? AND DO they numb your mouth for this procedure?

What happens when they put crowns in at the dentist?
Assuming no root canal was done, the dentist will numb you and then file down the tooth until it's just a small point. Then he'll take an impression of the area. You'll get a temporary crown right then, it's nothing fancy, just good enough to get you by. He then sends the impression to a lab, and depending on the lab, you should have the real one within 2 weeks. Then he cements the real one in. No novacaine is used now. Your gum line might be a little sore for a few days until you get used to it.
