I have 6 new crowns on my front teeth- and now there is a huge gap between my 2 front teeth ?

I had a lot of problems with my top teeth, the 6 most visible when I smile, so after having root canals %26amp; all sorts of work, I had them all crowned %26amp; they looked great.

But now, there is a growing gap between the 2 front teeth. My dentist said that that was "normal" and that I would have to has the piece of skin attaching my upper inner lip to my front teeth lasered off.

What? Has anyone ever heard of this? I did have a small gap there before the work was done, but these new crowns are much bigger than my old teeth,so whats up? Is my dentist telling me straight? I just feel like after spending like $9K, he should have told me about the Laser thing....or if the gap is due to a mistake, he should fess up %26amp; fix it.

Anyone else ever heard of this?

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and NO, you should have no gap. The little piece of skin has nothing to do with this. That is typically removed for braces and is NO big deal. It certainly has NO effect on front crowns. And if the crowns are bigger then your natural teeth, then have them redone. This is poor dentistry and I would never tolerate this. My patients get the look they deserve for what they pay. the gap should be gone and the teeth should look natural with both natural and artificial lightening. Demand that the dentist has this redone and use another lab. This sounds like a crappy job and someone that has no clue. If I did this, i would expect my patients to blow a gasket and be upset, as they rightly should. For that amount of monies, your teeth should look perfect, the color and size should be perfect and no excuses. If you have any other questions, please ask. M
