How could you get use to Dental Crowns?

I just got a new set of crowns in my mouth though they feel to big. Should I goto the dentist and get it fixed. Or could someone tell me how to "get use to them"

How could you get use to Dental Crowns?
Are these crowns on the front teeth then? It is normal for them to feel "too big." I would just give it some time. When you make even small changes in your mouth they seem to feel big, especially to your lips and tongue. If you are pleased with their appearance I would give it some time and see how you adjust. If the crowns are on the back teeth and feel high when you bite, that is something I would see your dentist for, it is just a simple adjustment. I hope this helps. If it would help you to feel more comfortable it does not hurt to just give your dentist a call! :)

Note: I agree with the previous post, they should only feel "different", just most people tend to discribe it as feeling "too big." They offered great advice also!
Reply:If it feels "big" as in you feel like you can't bite down all the way, then they need to get adjusted by the dentist. If they feel "big" as in slightly thicker to the tougue or the cheek, then you might have to get used to them. Next time you get crowns, feel them out and ask to see them on your teeth before they get cemented. Once they're cemented, there's not much that can be done except adjust the bite.
Reply:Crowns are larger then norm teeth. What you dont want is it hitting your other teeth and causing pain. You will get use to your crown. I reccomend if it dont hurt ir its not hitting give it a few days and soon enough you wont even remember it s there!

Reply:Go back to the dentist because they feel "weird" but should not feel too big-- you're saying that when you bite down they are not biting correctly? have the dentist check them out- he may have put in crowns that are too big.......and you cant get used to a foreign object that is oversized in your mouth- not when you have to bite on food ..........see the dentist and explain how it feels make sure he checks by making you bite down on your teeth..........good luck......it'll be hard to have him admit he made a mistake
Reply:If I understand correctly these crowns are cemented in place, and therefore cannot be removed. You will probably become used to them in a short period of time, just like people with braces get acclimated to those. I would contact your dentist if you have pain or feel like your bite is "off" and they may be able to adjust them a bit. Hope that helps!

Reply:The bite may be off, go to the Dentist for adjustment. Crowns are made to fit your mouth they shouldn t feel high or big. Its normal for them to feel "different" but that should go away within a week. By different I mean smoother then your other teeth or slightly more bulbous, especially if the reason you got a crown was because you had an extremely broken tooth as you are not use to biting on something and now you are. Crowns are expensive and you probably paid enough for then its worth a trip back to the Dentist (even if its for reassurance) Good luck.
