Plus, my husband says a crown is pretty much a "fake" tooth; but I say it is still part of your natural tooth, despite being honed down to a peg to support the crown. Thanks for your answers.
What is average amount of crowns a 52 year old person will have?
a crown is an reinforced enamel. When your natural enamel has worn off, the dentist places a crown to prevent further wearing away of your tooth to cause sensitivity %26amp; pain. Crowns are place after root cannal treatment to prevent the crown from braking up.
Depends on each person how many crowns he needs.

providing you brushed and saw the dentist 2x a year
crowns are like breast implants.. they look and feel nice, but they are as fake as kwanzaa claus
Reply:depends on the person's history of preventive dentistry, fluoridation of water when a child, etc. i'm 46 and have 3 crowns (2 had to have root canals before they were crowned). some people by their sixties may have 10 or more. it's better to get a crown so your bite and facial profile don't suffer.
Reply:A crown is a fake tooth.
Its a cover that sits over the filed down stump of your old tooth - which no longer looks like a tooth - to make it look like a tooth.
Hence - fake tooth.
How many ? Depends on genetics, hygiene, diet etc
Reply:I would say maybe 4, after that you might as well have dentures. Yes crowns are stil your teeth, they are your real tooth drilled down to stumps and a crown put over them.
Reply:a lot
Reply:I was trying to remember how many I had when I was 52! I think it depends on how good your teeth are. I had poor teeth, soft enamel, grew up on nonfloridated water and raw milk(farm kid) and no dental care til I got my "grown-up" teeth. My DH on the other hand had very good teeth til he reached his"golden years", then his problems started. He now has 4 crowns, all 4 required root canals.
