How long does it take gums to heal up after having temporary crowns put on?

Just had 2 temporary crowns put on %26amp; my gums are still bleeding %26amp; really sore. How many days until they heal? I'm afraid to brush around them.

sometimes the acrylic the temporary crowns are made of can act like an irritant to the gums. This will go away once you get the permanent crowns. In the meantime, don't be afraid to keep them clean at the gumline, too much plaque can collect and then the gums won't heal. For now, take some gauze or a wet washcloth and gently wipe the area around the gums and necks of the teeth. After doing that for a few days they should be okay to carefully brush the gumline with a soft toothbrush and a gentle toothpaste like Sensodyne. The teeth may be a little sensitive to cold until you get the permanent crowns also, and that is normal, the temporary crowns don't seal the teeth as well as the pemanent ones will. Remember, keeping the acid in the plaque away from the gums will help them to heal. Good Luck.
Reply:Although they won't totally heal until after your crowns are placed, they should get better every day. Take whatever you usually do for pain and be sure to be gentle with yourself - if you brush do it gently, don't floss, the salt water idea just above was great. Hope you feel better soon.
Reply:call your dentist and ask for a perscription of "Peridex".. its a medicated mouthwash that helps the healing of gums... don't rinse your whole mouth w/ it, just dip a q-tip in the rinse, and swab the area twice a day
Reply:I vote for Blondeambition's answer, but if they are really sore after the weekend, you might have temps that are too long and irritating your gums. Try all of her suggestions and go get it checked out if they do not work.
Reply:i don't know, but i just got my wisdom teeth out and it's probably the same like 2-4 days....
Reply:Gargle with salt water. they will stop hurting by tonight. get some oil of clove from a pharmacist or some ambesol and rub on them with a q-tip every hour or so. It tastes like hell but eases the pain.
Reply:You really should call and ask your dentist but I believe mine were just sore for a day or two.
